2016 4th of July Celebrations

Fourth of July was once again a two night celebration this year. On the 3rd we went to the Parkinsons for swimming, pizza, more swimming, dessert, and the high school fireworks show. Reed was great when we were in the pool and then seemed off the rest of the night. I think he was honestly just so excited about fireworks that he didn't want to talk to anyone or really play with the other kids which is definitely not the norm. The boys loved the fireworks show and I think would have happily sat through another 45 minutes of fireworks even though it was 3 hours past their usual bedtime when we finally put them to bed!

The next day we headed to the Suemotos house. Laurie and Russell grilled a bunch of meat and everyone brought salads and desserts. The boys were in the pool almost the entire afternoon and evening and I can't even tell you how many times Reed jumped off the diving board and swam to the edge of the pool - so neat to see his progression this summer!!! Kieran was all about racing and wanted me to hold him while we kicked together, needless to say I got quite the workout myself! The adults even got in on the racing action and I took it so seriously I made Reed lend me his swim shirt so I could give the race my all without worrying about what was going on with my top. We left a little after bedtime, not wanting to mess with their schedules too horribly two nights in a row but they were bummed to leave and I think next year we'll probably stick it out for another round of fireworks. All in all, definitely the most relaxed and fun 4th we've had since becoming parents.
