Remember last month when I mentioned our caterpillars? Well out of the 11 caterpillars 10 made the full transformation to butterfly and we were able to release them in our front yard. The boys thought this was amazing and had so much fun observing the entire process.
The next week we were battling a brutal stomach bug but by mid-week had recovered and were able to attend Reed's open house. Reed loved showing me and Kier around his classroom and the boys had a blast at a water experiment station his teacher had setup. 1st grade was a stellar year for Reed and I just loved his school, principal, and teacher.
We thought we had escaped giving the stomach bug to anyone else but Lyla came down with it followed by Zach. Because of Zach's medical condition the virus left him horribly dehydrated and he had to go to the hospital for IV fluids. This meant Lyla got to have a sleepover with the primos which they were all thrilled about and that C spent the early hours of Mother's Day taking care of a very sick kid. It being Mother's day all three of the kids were very sweet and made me a sign. Later on we made it to Pepe and Nonna's to have dinner with both sides of the family.
In the middle of the month I was able to go on a fieldtrip with Reed's class to Storyland. I had four kids in my group and we had a great time roaming around the park, listening to the stories, and playing in all of the different areas. By far Reed's favorite was the Jack and Jill hill you could surf down on a piece of cardboard. He was really good and kept his balance much longer than most of the other kids. His class also collected the most box tops at their school this year and the librarian thanked them with an ice cream sundae party. Both his teacher and the librarian were so sweet trying to find out what they could get for Reed to participate but since I was picking him up when it was over anyways I just came a little early and brought supplies for him. It was so fun to listen to the 7 year old conversations happening at the tables.
Kieran's preschool also had an Open House in May. Kieran refused to let me take his picture with either of his teachers but I did managed to get a few as we toured his classroom.
