Easter 2015

I'm going to try to keep the words to a minimum as there are a lot of pictures. On Saturday we had a bit of a pre-Easter. Saturday morning the boys got to open Easter cards and books sent to them by G-Momma and Blingy who weren't able to make it to town this year. When Kieran went down for his nap Reed and I went to work dyeing marshmallows. We had a lot of fun and it really is a great egg-dyeing alternative for anyone who's looking for an egg-less tradition. We did have a difference of opinion towards the end when Reed decided splashing the colored water everywhere was a good idea. Reed then went down for his nap and when Kieran woke he helped me make cupcakes, he absolutely loves dumping the ingredients in the bowl and insists on trying to do everything else with you.

Sunday morning Reed woke a little after 6:00am and was so excited to see his Easter basket. The Easter Bunny keeps things pretty practical around here, a few books, flip flops, a swimsuit, summer pajamas, a ball, and a pool/beach toy for each kid. EB also left a note for Reed this year explaining what eggs he could hunt and which he needed to leave for Kieran and Lyla. Reed did great "reading" the names on the note that had been left. As Reed was finishing going through his basket Kieran woke and he was able to dig through his loot.

After a little rushing around (and sadly never finding Kieran's lost bowtie) everyone arrived around 9:30 for the hunt, some gift opening, and a lunch. For her part Lyla was content to pose next to an egg and then watch all of the activity. K wasn't sure what was going on but once we showed him that the eggs were supposed to go in his basket he left the basket in the middle of the lawn and hustled around collecting all of his eggs basically unassisted. Reed, the veteran at this point, had to actually hunt out eggs (rather than grabbing the ones laying on the lawn) and did a pretty good job, getting a few hints here and there. The last egg he found was extra large and had a Bowser Amiibo in it - he was so excited he had a smile from ear to ear. As always the hunt was quite a spectator sport with the kids outnumbered by the adults by quite a lot.

After the hunt we went back inside so the kids could open gifts. Talk about generosity, the kids got several presents each, including craft supplies, pajamas, puzzles, books, stuffed animals, bath toys, and the cutest little bunny ears and sunglasses. Even Aunt Penny and Uncle Mark sent gifts for the Kiddos when they were not able to come because Mark broke his collar bone the night before. Jon barbecued chicken, Auntie M, Grandma, and Pepe each brought a salad and C and I made several desserts. The Grandparents stuck around for a little while after everyone left and Reed was able to get them to agree to race around the house with all of the Amiibos we have, of course he won the race in case you were curious. By early afternoon everyone had left so after Kieran's nap we decided to spend family time outside playing corn hole, swinging, and playing with Dodger.
