Kieran and Lyla's preschool had a Moms and Dads event that Jon and Tio were out of town for but C and I managed to make it to. The kids were a bit hesitant to sing in front of all of the parents, but it was still super sweet.
The following week the preschool had an Open House/Ice Cream Social. Unfortunately Reed had a baseball game at the same time so Jon stayed with him while I went with Kieran. He was very proud to show off all of his hard work - especially the ladybug that showed he had counted higher than anyone in the class.
This year I was able to run in the annual 10k that is held as part of our Swedish Festival Weekend. I've been running more in the last few months helping a friend train for a half marathon, but at a slower pace. I decided I wanted to try for an 8:15 mile average and was pretty excited when I crossed the finish line with an 8:01 pace. We had an entire HMC team, Grandma and her friends, and a bunch of other friends run too. After the race was done I picked up the kids from C's house and we made our way back to town for the parade and to check out the festival.
Reed's class earned two reward fieldtrips at the end of the year. One to a indoor trampoline place and the other to the local bowling alley. Unfortunately I was unable to attend either but one of the other Moms was a sweet and sent me some picture updates.
Towards the end of the month Kieran had his last day of preschool. He has continued to go to the same place and classroom for all day care so it definitely doesn't seem too final but it still is definitely a big milestone to have completed his first year of school.
On Memorial Day Nonna was planning on watching Lyla and Zach and I ended up needing to go into the office as well, so she sweetly agreed to watch all four kiddos. I think the kids had a blast hanging out together all morning. Once Jon and I were home from work in the later afternoon we decided to visit the cemetery where his Grandparents are buried. I've taken the boys the last couple of years to the Memorial Day event so we figured his Grandfather's flag would still be up and we could at least see that. Apparently they take the flags down right after the ceremony, but it was still nice to visit the cemetery and talk about Jon's Grandparents and his Grandfather's service in our military. After that we headed to our friend/co-worker Liz's house for a BBQ and pool party. The kids had a blast swimming and chatting with everyone.

Reed's school had a parents event where the kids sang a ton of songs and presented us all with gifts. Jon and I were both supposed to be in a meeting so I ducked out to go to the performance while he stayed at work. He was so glad I had made it and kept looking over and giving me a sly smile between songs.
The end of the school year seemed like one celebration after another and definitely coincided with work getting busier and busier but I managed to go on the last fieldtrip of the year with Reed's class - a train trip to Hanford, merry go round ride, classic firetruck ride, picnic in the park, and ice cream (or non-dairy strawberry freeze) from Superior Dairy. Reed and I had a great time and he was so excited to do something he'd never done before (ride the train).
