We've been experiencing a lot of follow-up questions coming from Reed lately. He is also into reasoning and logic which is pretty fun to watch, less fun is that on occasion he will lie. It's really funny when kids are young and you ask them a question and they tell you the truth because they don't know any different; it is still funny to hear a 2.5 year old come up with a fib, but just a little scary when you think down the road and what is to come!!!
Reed's big thing right now is that he's given us each a nickname - Mama Bear, Papa Bear, he is Baby Bear, Kieran is Goldilocks, and Dodger is Big Bear. He uses our nicknames all of the time in conversation and won't waiver on Kieran being called Goldilocks at all. Ok, enough of my musings . . .
One day I watched Reed walk up to Kieran, who I had just put in his car seat, shake his hand and say "glad to meet you."
Reed's new thing is to get his own milk out of the refrigerator. Sometimes the door will swing and push him into the fridge. After this happened last week he told me, "the refrigerator, when I get my milk, decides to close me in and break me."
The Monkey likes to pretend some of his stuffed animals are babies and I overheard him saying "I'm a Mom and I'm so fragile to a baby" when he was cradling Pup.
Jon was changing Reed's diaper and asked before undoing it "am I going to find a treat in here?" Reed responded with "we will find out!"
Reed was obsessed with this stuffed bear we had out at Christmas, we named him Holiday Bear, and Reed played with him a lot. Like to the point that the bear fell to pieces and we got rid of it after the Holidays. We told Reed that the bear had to go up in the attic with the rest of the Christmas decorations, assuming he would forget about the thing by next Christmas. He brings up this bear at least once a week still. He is not at all upset about the bear being in the attic but it is a point of conversation frequently in our house. I'm really hoping that I don't have to scour the Internet for a replacement next December! Right before Easter, out of nowhere, he came up to me and said "we should get Holiday Bear down because the next Holiday is Easter."
I noticed Kieran munching on his foot and jokingly said to Reed "I wonder what that tastes like?" He, very seriously, said "probably a sock."
Reed can now reach the water dispenser in our refrigerator, but knows he's not supposed to do it by himself. When I walked into the kitchen and found him standing in a puddle of water I asked if he had gotten water out of the refrigerator. Without skipping a beat he responded "no" followed by a quiet "I got it out of the freezer" - he's right the dispenser is located on the freezer door - ughh!!
We like asking Reed if the baby in C's tummy is a boy or girl, his answer changes often, but the other day when we asked him he replied "C's baby is a girl baby because she's a cousin" (he has two cousins right now and both are girls).
When G-Mama was staying at our house we asked Reed who his best friends are, he answered, like he always does, "Dad and Parker (the Grizzlies mascot)." Thinking he might change his tune with a visitor I asked "what about Mom and G-Mama?" to which he responded incredulously "they're girls!!!"

Easter Round #2
After Easter Round #1 we quickly packed up and headed over to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Reed made a beeline for Grandpa, and recruited Dad and Annaliese as well, for bubble making fun. Kieran got to meet Blingy (I missed the photo op) and spent time hopping from Grand-Aunt to Grand-Aunt's arms.
Uncle Kyle and Aunt Kari had the good idea to get some family pictures taken before the babies needed naps and the toddlers somehow ruined their outfits. Apparently their family is a little better at posing for pictures than ours!!!
Finally we let the Kiddos get to hunting. It was so fun watching Reed have a pal to hunt with. At first he and Annaliese went in opposite directions minding their own business, well kind of - Grandma and Grand Aunt Jana played assistants. Eventually they ended up hunting together though and Reed even decided to put all of his eggs in Annaliese's basket.
Of course there were more gifts including a fun book from Grand Aunt Penny and Uncle Mark that the kids were totally in to and wind up bunnies from Grand Aunt Jana and Uncle Tim that were a huge hit.
We had a delicious tri-tip lunch and then attempted some more family pictures with pretty good success. The one funny part was that Annaliese wanted me to hold her, which I loved, but it does look a bit like I have a daughter! Once we started adding more people to the picture she went to Grandpa and the pictures make a lot more sense.

Easter Round #1
Saturday night turned into a bit of a nightmare when Reed had an allergic reaction. We could tell something wasn't right after we put him to bed. After we each had gone in a couple of times to calm him down (he was tossing and turning and crying and then really started to scratch) we found his back covered in a rash, his eyes red and watery, and his nose running non-stop. A middle of the night bath, more allergy medicine, Mom sleeping in bed with him, Dad sleeping in bed with him, Reed sleeping in bed with us all followed. I use "sleep" loosely as none of us were getting much rest.
During all of this Kieran was up his normal two times and then woke up for good at 6:00 am. Although I was exhausted he was adorable and totally into digging through his Easter basket.
Reed managed to sleep in a bit and when he wandered into the kitchen he immediately spotted his Easter basket and asked to start working on his new puzzle. Tio and C arrived just a little later and Reed put them to work helping him assemble the thing while I made biscuits for the gang.
Once Nonna, Pepe, Gran, and Papa arrived we let the Monkey out to hunt eggs (K was taking his first nap of the day). He did a great job finding most of the eggs on his own, but did get a little help from Tio and Nonna. The highlight of the morning was probably Nonna trying to help Reed find an egg hidden in a tree by demonstrating how high a bunny could hop.
After egg hunting, I nursed and dressed Kieran while Reed opened a few gifts. After that we had time for a few quick family shots before we went our separate ways for the rest of the day.

Pre Easter Celebrations
While Easter isn't usually too hectic of a Holiday for us, this year it turned into a three day event. Friday was actually pretty mellow, G-Mama arrived to stay with us for the weekend and we had a quiet dinner at home with her. Reed was so excited that she was staying with us - he had her reading books, doing puzzles, and trying to follow along with his imagination all weekend. Her stay also meant lots of extra cuddle time with Kieran, who has changed a lot since she met him four months ago.
On Saturday my Mom, Aunt Penny, Auntie M, and I hosted a shower for our cousin Adam's fiancé, Emily. It was great getting to know her better and welcoming her into the family. Aunt Kari brought their daughter Haleigh (5 weeks) to the shower and it was the first time a lot of us had the pleasure of meeting her.
After the shower we decided that since my parents were hosting Easter for 30 people the next day we would have their contingency over for pizza and spare their house the mess. Aunt Laurie, Uncle Peter, Uncle Kyle, Aunt Kari, Annaliese, and Haleigh made the trek with them and we had a nice evening.
