October Birthday Celebrations Begin

Obviously there is a lot of celebrating in September in our families but with mine and Gran's Birthdays falling in the beginning of October it seems like the party just continues.

Two weekends ago C and Tio asked me and Jon out to dinner. Pepe and Nonna babysat all three kids at our house, but when Tio brought Lyla over he told us C wasn't quite ready yet and we would need to pick her up on our way out of town. When we got back to their house she still wasn't ready and when we went inside to get her I was surprised by Lee and her husband Phil and Amanda (Steve was out of town) being there. I wasn't confused because I obviously knew this was a little party for me but I was so surprised and felt so special it took me a little bit to take it all in. Chelsea and Drew did a great job and made homemade pizzas and steak sandwiches, we had a Murder Mystery Party where we were all assigned characters, and their house was decorated like a Napa winery (the setting for the murder party). It was a great night and a wonderful way to celebrate my Birthday.

The next day Gran and Papa came to Sunday dinner and we had a little party for Gran. The kids were a bit wild that night but Gran didn't seem to mind and we were able to have a nice night together.

This past Sunday was my actual Birthday so we had C, Tio, Lyla, Grandma, and Grandpa over for a barbecue (Nonna and Pepe were out of town). Unfortunately it was really cold and rainy so our plan of being outside didn't really work but we all appreciate the rain and had a great time playing inside instead. Jon made me a Birthday sign and Reed worked very hard on a pipe cleaner snake we used as the centerpiece. The boys wouldn't sit still long enough to have their picture taken with me, but Lyla was delivered to me in a bag and was more than happy to oblige! I received lots of wonderful gifts and had a great time starting the second half of my 4th decade.
