Reed was pretty apathetic about his first day of school. He didn't seem excited but also wasn't nervous at all. I'm used to Reed being away at school during the week but I've also grown very comfortable with his preschool and how they care for his allergies, make sure he is included in all activities, and always keep me in the loop. I was a wreck thinking about leaving Reed at a new school and having to work with a new group of teachers/administrators and basically spent the week before crying over every little thing. Jon had a meeting on the first day of school so I went solo to the parent orientation. After I found out Reed's allergies hadn't been communicated to his teacher and that the health aide didn't have the additional paperwork I needed to fill out (despite me having spoken to her a couple of times prior to school starting) I ended up in my car sobbing before going to pick Reed up. I managed to gather myself and we had fun participating in first day activities. Luckily the kids went home with the parents that first day. We picked Kieran up and had a picnic in the park and a nice afternoon all together. By the next day his teacher had been in touch with me and I felt much better about the situation. We are still working through some of the logistics of being in a new school that is all Kindergarten but luckily Reed is amazing at communicating his allergies and has been able to take care of himself very well these first few weeks.
