Zach's First Birthday

Zach is the youngest of the boys' five cousins and is also the only male cousin they will have, making him the baby of the family and also somewhat of a novelty with there only being girls before him. He really didn't need anything to make him special because he is just the sweetest/happiest kid you've ever met! Zachy is picking up signs left and right and cruising up a storm. It is a race to see if he will crawl or walk first but either way he'll be running with our pack very soon.

The last twelve months have been a roller coaster, from Chelsea undergoing major surgery just hours after Zach's delivery, to Zach's struggle to grow in his first months, followed by a month long stay in the hospital, a diagnosis of a rare genetic kidney disorder coupled with a dairy allergy, placement of a feeding tube, lots and lots of doctors visits and medicines, and an ongoing struggle to get Zach caught up on his growth while holding his sodium levels down. Through it all C and Tio have had the best attitudes and Zach has kept his charming disposition. They, along with Big Sister Lyla, are such inspirations. Of course after going through all of this Zach definitely deserved a big party for hitting the big 12 month mark!!!

C and Tio threw an awesome 1st Birthday party, with a water slide, pool toys, crafts, a kiddie pool full of balls, water bottle favors, cupcakes, and a super cute homemade smash cake for Zach. The heat was horrendous on the day of the party which meant Zach had to stay inside for a lot of it to keep him hydrated but he had lots of company and a ton of fun. He wasn't sure about the cake but was still so cute watching everyone sing to him and trying it out. It was a great evening celebrating our adorable Nephew!!!

On Sunday Pepe and Nonna had a family dinner in Zach's honor as well. His Grammy and Pop Pop were still in town and everyone had a great time spending more time together, playing with bouncy balloons, and eating more dessert!!!
