October 2017 Happenings

October was definitely a month for Birthdays and a few other fun activities too. Gran's Birthday is at the beginning of the month and unfortunately Reed and I were both sick and stayed home from her celebration. Jon did take some pictures so we could see what we missed!

The next party was for Ryland's 5th Birthday. His parents threw another awesome party, it was a farm theme and they held it at the old family dairy. There was a petting zoo, pony rides, a corn pit, a mechanical bull, and face painting. The boys had a blast and I think Reed road the mechanical bull at least a dozen times. They also both got their faces painted for the first time.

Later in the month Jon had to travel out of town for a few days so I told the boys if they were good we could have a slumber party on the last night. They earned their slumber party (just barely) and I got to kind of sleep sandwiched in between a log and a heat seeking missile all night!

Tio was the next to celebrate a Birthday and C had a little party for him with our local Kingsburg friends. She made a huge batch of chili and had cupcakes and ice cream Reed could have. Tio gave all of the kids a "hay ride" in his gator and I still don't know who had more fun - the kids or the Dads.

Reed's school got to go to the pumpkin patch on their first field trip of the year and I got to go along as a chaperone. It got off to a rough start when the bus driver went the wrong way and we arrived late to the pumpkin presentation. All was fine though when the kids got to walk on the hanging bridge, play on the play structure, go on a hayride, and pick out a pumpkin to take home with them. It also made me realize how lucky I am with my work situation that I can take time off for these types of activities.

To end the month we celebrated Eliana's 3rd Birthday with a Moana themed party in the park. Ashley decorated the whole park adorably and the kids (and some of the adults) wore costumes since it was just a couple days before Halloween. The piñata and the bounce house were definitely the biggest hits and Reed felt extra special when Ashley got him a special treat in place of some of the piñata candy. We left a little early when Jon was told the score to the World Series game and he requested we leave ASAP before he heard any more about his beloved Dodgers.
