Ryland's Mom, Charlyse, throws the most amazing parties and this year Ryland's Birthday party was no different. The party had a pirate theme and she made each of the kids a pirate hat, head scarf, and sash. The kids also received a bag for their treasure hunt. There were a ton of activities scattered around their backyard including a cannon ball throw, buried treasure dig, face painting, a boat to paint, a sandbox they converted into a pirate ship, and a guy making balloon animals. Once all of the kids arrived they started the treasure hunt. They began with "Pirate Jake" reading a story and then everyone listening to clues that led them around the river bottom. At each stop there was an activity the kids had to do to earn a "treasure." I couldn't believe how into it Kieran was. There were a lot of older kids, but he was almost always at the front of the pack or line and got so excited for each clue, it really was adorable. Charlyse had also contacted me ahead of time to make sure Reed could have the food she was serving. Basically everything she served for the kids Reed was okay to eat, including the hot dogs they had made into octopuses and the pasta shells, it was awesome. To say the boys had a blast is an understatement and they've been talking about the party ever since!
