Last Saturday Grandma and I hosted a baby shower for Auntie M. We were blessed with perfect weather and friends and family from both Melissa and Kevin's sides got to mingle and hang out for a few hours. Melissa didn't want anything too babyish or too boyish so the decorations were in aqua, gold, pale blue, and a little mint here and there. Once I started thinking about it I realized this is probably the last baby shower I'll be involved in for quite some time so I had a lot of fun making all of the decorations myself and trying to come up with a few creative ways to celebrate. M didn't want a lot of games so instead I had the idea of making an ABC book for baby so a picture of each guest or group of guests was taken with each letter in the alphabet and now I get to put together a keepsake book for the Little Guy.
Auntie M holds a very special place in my heart as she is my only girl cousin and we grew up living right next to each other, she is definitely more like a Sister to me. We were bridesmaids in each other's weddings and I can't wait to be an honorary "auntie" to this baby boy!!! I couldn't resist making him a special quilt and tried to coordinate it with the nursery Melissa is putting together. I was so excited to surprise her with the gift and hope baby Burchett gets lots and lots of use out of it. I wasn't the only one that gave the Baby a homemade gift, Blingy made an amazing cloth photo album and Auntie Laurie sent an adorable blanket. Reed got to come join us for a bit and was very sweet, asking Auntie M what he could do for her and shuttling gifts around. Hunky Kevin showed up at the end and I managed to get a couple great pictures with the future parents and Grandmas.
