This year when I asked Reed about his Birthday he asked me if he could have a party with big kids. When I asked what that meant he explained that he wanted a party "with big kids, no little kids or babies." Then he went on to name the three oldest kids that we are friends with - Ryan, Connor, and Clara. I managed to talk him into letting Kieran and Lyla attend as well. He also insisted that the party have a theme and pretty quickly settled on "vehicles." I learned a lesson last year and decided to have Reed get involved in making the decorations, deciding on activities, etc. so I would know he would like everything. Tio has unfortunately had a big problem with fruit theft this year and had a bunch of banana boxes he had taken from some of the thieves. Reed and I took them and made cars for each of the kids. We spent a couple of Kieran's naps decorating them and it was a lot of fun for both of us, plus Reed loved that bad guys had used the boxes and been caught and now he was doing something good with them.
For the party we just brought out all of our vehicle toys and let the kids play with whatever they wanted. Then we colored in license plates, put them on the banana box cars, and let the kids run around with the cars strapped to them. They didn't last as long as I hoped but it was absolutely hilarious to see them run around together. There was lots of snacking, present opening, and a bunch more playing. For our first party with friends I think it turned out great and Reed said he absolutely loved it. Also when I asked Kieran if he had fun he said yes, when I asked if he liked playing with all of the kids he said yes, and then when I asked who his favorite kid he played with was he said "Eeed" (Reed). Soo sweet!!!
